Beginners Guide to Light a Pipe

In the early stages of smoking a pipe it is very important for each one to have tried a variety of tobaccos. As a beginner, it is essential to select tobacco that is easy to burn and pre or already rubbed. The pipe smoker also needs to select tobacco based on the taste as the strength ranges from mild to medium.

Now that you have decided to smoke a pipe, you need to get the right pipe and the right tobacco. Once you have that, follow this gateway to perfection.

First and foremost what you need to make sure is that the air hole in the pipe is clear. For this you need to blow gently into the mouthpiece.

Having done this, the next important thing in line is to have the entire interior of the bowl with carbonized lining. This will help enhance the flavor of the smoke you experience from briar pipes. However, if you have a pre-carbonized factory made pipe, you can skip this step. Once you start smoking the carbonized lining will keep on building up in the bowl. But it is important to remember that the total lining should always be 1/6th of an inch only.

Now, you come to the last stage which is that of filling in tobacco. For this, put in the tobacco after holding the pipe upright. Tap the pipe and repeat the process till the bowl is full. If you fill in the bowl completely, then you would have a wonderful experience with the first smoke. But, if not done properly, your pipe may be bitter and also extremely hot. Remember to use tobacco that is not too moist or too dry. Light the Briar pipe using a pipe lighter or wooden matches.

Having done all correctly you are now enjoying your ‘Charring Light’ and hoping to have many more wonderful experiences with your new toy.
